On Sunday I started the daily readings in Dale Clem’s A Calendar of Devotions- Advent 2016. It’s not too late for you to get started. We have plenty of booklets. So far the author has been doing some interesting musing about walking around in the dark. Where he lives he could step on a snake. He also mentions bobcats, foxes, raccoons, and armadillos. He says it’s important to learn to manage our fears and reminds us that not all that is uncomfortable or frightening is dangerous. I’m curious to see what he writes about next…

Meanwhile you also can pick up a special “Twigs” Advent calendar at the church. It’s really a reverse calendar- every day you open one of its little doors, read the message inside, and put the suggested food item into a bag. At the end of Advent you’ll have a bag of lunch food that will get donated to Twigs. They’ll pass this along to kids who have no lunch provided when school is not in session.
