St. John’s UMC Mission Garden
St. John’s UMC in Edwardsville maintains a large garden that provides area food pantries and soup kitchens with fresh vegetables. Last year they harvested and distributed over 11 TONS. They need LOTS of help cultivating, harvesting and delivering fresh produce to area pantries (including Troy, Maryville and Glen Carbon). They pick every Monday and Saturday MORNING at 7AM (or when you can make it) and every Tuesday and Thursday EVENING at 7PM (again, when you can make it.) They can also use some drivers to deliver the produce to the pantries. If you are interested in volunteering just show up at any of the above times. You can also locate them on Facebook (search for “St. John’s Mission Garden”) or email them firstname.lastname@example.org.
The garden is located at the church at 7372 Marine Road in Edwardsville (on Rt. 143 on the east side of Edwardsville). It is the site of the old Burns Farm Nursery.
Interested in Sewing?
If you are interested in helping sew, iron, fold or organize, check out Sew Much Joy. Many of their projects help locally or are contributed to the Midwest Mission Distribution Center.
