When we sent out a letter a few weeks ago announcing my retirement in July, I indicated that Bishop Frank Beard had given us permission for a transition period to be negotiated where I will be on staff in some capacity here until October 1, 2017.
The Staff-Parish Committee and the Church Council have approved a position of Pastor Emeritus for me. I will be available up to 36 days during that three month period to assist in the transition.
I am grateful that the Bishop and Cabinet have appointed Rev. Andy Adams as the new Sr Pastor here. He is an excellent leader and pastor. I have the utmost confidence that it will be a great fit.
During this three month period, I will be available (up to those 36 days!) for whatever may be needed as the church enters a new chapter.
Rev. Adams will occupy the Pastor’s Study and will be in charge of the staff and the preaching. My work will be in supporting him as the new Sr. Pastor.
I appreciate the willingness of the Bishop, Cabinet, Staff-Parish, Church Council, and Rev. Adams to embark on this journey. I pray that this will be a great transition and that the church will continue to grow and make disciples of Jesus Christ.
Thanks for your prayers as we all enter into something new!
See you Sunday,
