This summer should be an exciting and fun filled summer at Troy United Methodist Church. Students of all ages will have multiple opportunities to participate in events that will be fun and active, and will provide ways to grow and develop in their faith. Many of these events are available to students throughout our entire community.
You will find many of our students on Mission this summer. Our children grades 5-8 will travel to Chatham, IL on June 2-4, to work with the Midwest Distribution Center. Our Senior High is headed to Tampa Bay, Florida on July 17-23, to provide different types of ministry to the church and to the community there.
What would summer be without camps? Our youth (grades 7-12) will once again head to Eldorado, Il for the Beulah Youth Institute Camp on June 19-22. Our children (grades 3-6) will join with kids from other churches for a camp at Lake Williamson Christian Center near Carlinville, IL on July 8-10.
We are expanding our ministry in several ways this summer. Students in grades 1-6 will develop physically and spiritually at our first ever sports camp on July 13-17. We will provide instruction in cheerleading, basketball and soccer, as well as how to live an “Undefeated” life. We will follow that up with a Soccer Camp on July 18-22 that will be directed by one of our youth and many others will assist.
Another new opportunity will be a Fine Arts Camp on June 27-30. Children in first – sixth grade will get to experience new skills in the arts! They will get a chance to choose from music, dance, art, photography, voice and more. Kids will also be tie-dying shirts during the week.
To round out the summer, we will again be sponsoring a Vacation Bible School for students of TUMC and the surrounding communities on July 25-30. Each morning, students will sing, play, interact with bible stories, and much more. Our theme is Pandamania and they will learn that it is a place “Where God is Wild about You!”
As you can see, we are planning a great summer. We already have a lot of volunteers working on the plans, but we are in need of many more. Please be thinking about where you can be involved in making a difference in student lives, as well as your own. And please be in prayer for what God will do this summer at TUMC and beyond.
To register for any of these summer events, please contact Family Minister, David Roderick (667-6241, ext. 12 or david@troyumc.org.)
