TEAM: “Kick it for Kraabel” Update
Five students and five adults from Troy UMC joined Eli Kraabel on his 14th birthday to participate in the recent Metro East Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes, a 5K walk held on Saturday, September 17th, on the campus of SIUE. Eli is a very athletic 8th grader, so you probably wouldn’t know just by looking at him that he lives each day with Type 1 Diabetes. To maintain good health and a very active schedule, Eli monitors his blood sugar count at least six times per day. The American Diabetes Association sponsors the walk to raise funds for research and awareness of the disease. Walkers made donations and Troy UMC students gave offerings during youth group on Wednesdays nights during August and September totaling $208.56!
